SAN ANTONIO DOG SHOWS & AGILITY TRIALS
      July 9 - 13

This year's 5 summer shows held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center were as exciting as any dog shows across the nation. The three kennel clubs: Comal County, Austin & Bexar County worked together to offer the dog lover plenty to see and do.

Heather snapped this picture of Sunday's Non-sporting group winners.

Everyone wants to see their favorite breed up close. Our local Sheltie club, The Alamo Area Sheltie Club, set up a special area near the conformation rings where we showed off our special Shelties. Folks young, old and in between enjoyed meeting and learning about the wonders of this fascinating breed.

Sheltie lovers: Joy Bass, Heather Gomez, Allana & Dan Hemenway and Tomas brought out Shelties for visitors to pet and admire.

This young visitor can't resist feeling Corrie's soft fur.

This visitor talks with Heather reminiscing about a Sheltie she once owned.

      Jenna

      Julie

Our Jenna (Classic's Jentle Jenna) isn't lonely without her littermates. Though resting here, she is always finding something interesting to participate in.   Julie (Classic's Justa Lil Jingersnap) is learning her good manners from Sandy and Craig Staffan.

      Kyleigh
           Jake

The Kelly Family in Bulverde sends us word that "Kyleigh" (Classic's Hightime Harmony) herds and protects their flock of pigeons. She's smart enough though, to stay out of the hot sun when the temperature soars. Kyleigh now has a new little friend to keep her company. "Jake" (Classic's Jaunty Jino) is one of Sindy's kids."

      QUERETARO, MEXICO
      April 17-20

For A Change of Scenery Tomas & Alane judged 4 hot dog shows in Queretaro, Mexico April 17-20.  These all-breed events were sponsored by Santiago de Queretaro Klub Canofila.  Along with the usual AKC breeds we judged various "rare" breeds such as the Mexican Xoloitzcuintle.

Marjorie Martorella of New Jersey, Isidro Castro and Gerardo Herdia of Mexico City completed the judging panel.  Queretaro, situated in the center of Mexico, is a fascinating city with endless historic sites, ancient churches and colorful works of art.  The shows were held on the grounds of the Hacienda Jurica resort hotel.   Though the weather was unusually hot, handlers were careful to ensure their dogs' comfort by providing shade, fans and cool water.  We were impressed with the high quality of the dogs as well as the good sportmanship of the exhibitors.  The show officials, George Becker, Juan Manuel Mendoza Pereznares and ring stewards-Maritza & Chuy were extremely attentive and kept the judging on schedule.

Special thanks to everyone responsible for the success of these Queretaro dog shows.

ALAMO AREA SHETLAND SHEEPDOG CLUB'S SHOWS IN FEBRUARY

Shelties and their proud owners gather in the San Antonio Area each year to compete for awards in conformation, obedience and rally.   These special Sheltie shows draw entries from near and far.  While it is the dream of each participant to take home a big win, simply competing is an exciting adventure.   Six very knowledgeable judges worked through the varied classes this Feb 9th & 10th.

DREAMER'S 3 KIDS NOW HAVE THEIR RN's (Rally Novice titles).

Beth Weaver was very pleased winning the title on her blue girl, "Wiggles" (Classic's Watchme Wiggle).   Our two girls did extremely well.  A perfect score is 100. "Trinket" (Ch. Classic's Uptown Gal, CD, NA, NAJ) scored 98. Little "Corrie" (Classic's The Chorus Girl) scored a nice 97.
