The Classic Story

Chicago was the birthplace of the CLASSIC line of Shelties.

In 1953 a young girl, Alane Lubker, discovered the Shetland Sheeepdog.  She was already a Collie lover, but sought to become involved with the "minature version".  In those days the Sheltie was little known and had the reputation of being very nervous and shy.

It was Alane's youthful enthusiasm that prompted her to purchase Champion Brandell's Butterfly (a Ch. Timberidge Temptation daughter) to breed to Eleanor Jolly's most handsome, charming and confident Champion Timberidge Black Crusader.  This produced the lovely Champion Classic's Animated Angel, C.D. from whom all the CLASSIC SHELTIES descend.  Other significant Shelties we bred and/or owned are listed below.

It has always been Alane's goal to produce Shelties of striking beauty and correct size who are confident, affectionate, loyal, and eager to please.

Currently Alane and Tomas Gomez continue breeding CLASSIC SHELTIES in the quiet "Hill Country" of Texas.  Only a few special dogs are retained so each can receive individual daily attention.

CLASSIC SHELTIES are best known for their strong agile bodies, attentiveness to their masters and outstanding capacity and willingness to perform almost any task.

For over five decades CLASSIC SHELTIES have excelled in conformation, obedience and tracking. Most still possess the herding instinct and enjoy demonstrating it.  Agility is also a sport where CLASSIC SHELTIES love to show off.
